Privacy Policy
The short version: Posey collects nothing. No account, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs, no ads. Your reference photos and the pictures you take stay on your device — and, if you turn on iCloud Sync, in your own iCloud. We never see them.
What Posey stores, and where
- Reference photos you import are compressed and stored inside the app on your device.
- Photos, Live Photos, and videos you capture are saved to your device's photo library only when you tap Save.
- Your settings (like the iCloud Sync switch) are stored on your device.
iCloud Sync (optional)
If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings, your references sync across your devices through Apple's CloudKit private database — storage that belongs to your Apple ID. It is encrypted in transit, governed by Apple's privacy policy, and technically inaccessible to us. Turn it off any time; your data stays on your device.
Device permissions
- Camera — to show the live preview and take your photo. Frames are processed on-device and never transmitted.
- Microphone — only if you record a Live Photo or video, so it has sound.
- Photo library — to import references you choose, and to save (add-only) the shots you take.
Each permission is requested only when the feature needs it, and Posey keeps working in a limited way if you decline.
Purchases
Posey Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple. We receive no payment details — Apple only tells the app that the purchase (or a restore) succeeded.
What we never do
- No analytics or telemetry SDKs — we don't even know how many times the app is opened.
- No selling, sharing, or renting of any data. There is no data to sell.
- No fingerprinting, no advertising identifiers, no cross-app tracking.
Children
Posey is rated 4+ and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If we ever change how Posey handles data, we'll update this page and its effective date first. A change that added any collection would be called out in the app itself — not buried here.
